Make Up Testing

The Make-up Testing Center

Sometimes circumstances force you to miss a scheduled test. You can make arrangements with your SCC instructor to take the missed exam at the Make-up Testing Center.

The Make-up Testing Center provides make-up exams if you are unable to take scheduled classroom test for one of the following reasons:

  • Personal, family or work emergency
  • Medical emergency
  • Documented disability identified by Disability Support Services

NOTE: Only SCC faculty members can authorize a make-up test. Speak with your instructor before scheduling a make-up test.

There are rules you must follow to use the Make-up Testing Center. The College has established these rules to make the most effective use of existing resources.

  • The Make-up Testing Center will not test an entire class.
  • You and your instructor must arrange for a make-up test immediately after the scheduled exam is taken by the class.
  • You must make - and keep - make-up test appointments. Repeated rescheduling of appointments is not permitted.
  • You must take the make-up test within ten working days of the time it reaches the Make-up Testing Center.

How do I schedule a make-up test?

To take a make-up exam, there are procedures you and your instructor must follow.

The instructor must:

  • Bring a completed Make-up Testing Request form and the test to Room A-107, Sanford/Lake Mary Campus and Student Services, Oviedo Campus
  • Wait until a member of the center staff signs and dates the request form
  • Inform the student the test is in the Make-up Testing Center
  • Review the student's procedures for test scheduling, and remind the student of testing constraints and to keep the testing appointment.

After your instructor has placed a test in the Make-up Testing Center, you must:

  • Call 407.708.2311 to schedule an appointment at the Sanford/Lake Mary or Oviedo Campus. The appointment must be within ten working days of the time the test reached the center.
  • Keep the scheduled appointment.
  • Bring one photo ID and one other form of ID to the testing sessions.
  • Follow all procedures established by the classroom instructor. There may be specific rules for identification, scrap paper, books in the testing room, etc.
  • Adhere to College policies, procedures, and regulations regarding academic integrity.
  • Notify your instructor that you have completed the test.

Security

The Make-up testing center is dedicated to maintaining academic integrity. To safeguard the make-up testing process, we:

  • Require students provide photo identification before entering the testing room
  • Require students sign an identification form after they complete the test
  • Monitor students during testing

If students use materials other than those authorized by the instructor or engage in suspicious behavior, we:

  • Document the incident
  • Collect relevant data
  • Notify the instructor

The instructor determines how to treat the incident.
