Interior Design A.S. Degree Program

At Seminole Community College, you can earn your Associate in Science Degree in Interior Design Technology in this exciting two-year program.

Why Choose SCC?

As the practice of interior design has become more complex, technical, and demanding, interior designers are required to assume much more responsibility than just the selection of fabrics. Graduates of the Interior Design Technology program at SCC have the skills needed to shape future environments.

Our award winning curriculum includes major courses such as Visual Foundations, Computer Aided Drafting for Interior Designers, Interior Furnishings Estimating, Survey of Materials and Resources, Technical Design, Historic Interiors, Textiles, Graphics Design, various Residential and Commercial Design, Business Principles, and Practices for the Interior Designer, and Building and Barrier Free Design. In addition to classroom projects, students participate in various community projects, attend departmental field trips to regional design centers, and participate with local chapters of professional organizations such as ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and IIDA (International Interior Design Association). Additionally, an extensive resource library is available for research and design projects.

Career Opportunities

Numerous career opportunities are available for graduates of this program such as: consultation, sales, assistants to interior designers, architects or space planners, visual merchandising, manufacturing representatives, rendering and drafting delineators and set designers. After completion of the Associate in Science degree and four years of work experience, graduates are eligible to take the NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualification) state exam to become a licensed interior designer.
