CPEC Meeting Minutes - Monday, April 28, 2008
1:20 p.m.-2:30 p.m., Room C-110A
Call to Order: At 1:44 p.m. by Linda Cowels, CPEC President
Members Present: Lois Leahy, Jane Scott, Leona Jones, Charlene Beckstrom, Sherry Baer and Linda Cowels
Financial Report: Given by Treasurer, Sherry Baer; CPEC has a balance of $127.73.
CPEC Goals & Suggestions for 2008:
- Health and Wellness
- Get discounts from local gyms.
- Get curves certificates.
- Conduct drawings for the certificates.
- Professional Development
- Invite professional speakers to speak around later this year.
- Conduct video conferences on issues that affect career professionals.
- CPR Class
- CPR certificates given upon completion of class.
- The class will be given on Tuesdays and Thursdays from one to four hours per class session.
- Contact Norman Messacott for dates
- CPEC Summer Social, "Pot Luck"
- Pot Luck date: June 10, 2008 (or bring your lunch).
- Location: Fine Arts Lobby
- Advertise in the SCC Today.
- Have a suggestion box provided for ideas.
- CPEC members will provide eating utensils.
- RSVP; an attendee count is needed.
- Create a list of foods that will be brought for the Pot Luck.
- CPEC "Welcome Back Picnic"
- August 15, 2008 on College property, grassy area (BBQ, baked beans, etc.)
- Draft a letter to inform new-hires that their membership is automatic.
- Fundraisers
- CPEC t-shirts.
- Contact CJ Hague or Scott Roche for prices.
- Professional Employee of the Month
- Get nominations; you may recommend yourself.
- Criteria: Candidates must have been employed full time at SCC for at least three years; have two letters of reference; have one letter from an employee, as evidence of demonstrated dedication beyond the call of duty, etc.
- CPEC will notify the supervisor of employee's nomination.
- Certificates are to be given to the selected Professional Employee of the Month.
- The winner will attend a "meet and greet" and have lunch or tea with SCC's President, Dr. E Ann McGee.
