General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program

Seminole Community College (SCC) and General Motors Corporation are pleased to offer the General Motors Automotive Service Educational Program (GM-ASEP). This unique program combines the technical training facility at SCC with regional General Motors dealers in a cooperative effort to produce highly qualified and trained technicians. This is not just another automotive training program, but is unique in the design and implementation of training.

The success of the GM-ASEP program nationally is documented by the number of qualified technicians who graduated and are now successful in the workforce.

Seminole Community College has won national recognition for the quality of its automotive programs. It was ranked second in the nation in 1996 for both affiliated and non-affiliated programs, FIRST in 1997 for the non-manufacturer affiliated, and FIRST in 1998 for the manufacturer-affiliated programs.

GM-ASEP Features:

• Two years of training
• Associate in Science Degree

• Training on state-of-the-art GM vehicles and components
• Cooperative work experience at a sponsoring GM dealership

To participate in SCC's GM-ASEP program you must be academically qualified, and you must have a General Motors dealership sponsor. It is the cooperative effort between the college and the dealership that will provide you with the needed on-campus training and with "real work experiences" on the job. The automotive industry has been experiencing a tremendous growth in the use of sophisticated technology (some vehicles have as many as 28 computers on board) and requires technicians who are willing to learn and to adapt to changing technologies.
