Proposed  Procedure 1.4000

Seminole Community College hereby gives notice of the proposed procedure for Information Technology Security Awareness (1.4000)

 

Based on Board Policy and Florida Statute: 1001.64 F.S., Board Policy 1.140

Purpose:

To ensure that the College community is aware of SCC's security policies and acceptable use of information technology resources.

Procedure:

  1. Definition: "Users" are defined as all employees who have access to College information technology resources via a College-assigned user ID and password.
  2. Security Awareness Statement:
    • A hard copy of the College's Acceptable Use of Information Technology policy and the Security Awareness Statement will be distributed to each employee attending the new employee orientation sessions.
    • Key points of the policy will be communicated to attendees and their questions addressed during the orientation session
    • Computing & Telecommunications Services will send an electronic communication to all other computer users each year during the Fall Term, requesting acknowledgement of the Security Awareness Statement.
    • CTS will send follow-up electronic communication to unresponsive users, and their supervisor will be copied on this e-mail, expecting timely acknowledgment of the policy.

Comments on the proposed procedure may be received until May 28, 2008 and should be sent to the Office of Risk Management and Legal Affairs, 100 Weldon Blvd., Sanford, FL 32773.
